Default The Mary Whitehouse Experience

Anyone remember it? It was classic! I remember it being at least as good as the Fast Show.

And yet it's never been repeated, never been released on DVD.

Why BBC why?!?! I can't even find a (seeded) torrent

I have it on DVD

AND, a guy at work heard me talking about it and said he had the book lying around at home and did I want it? So I have that too now

I remember it being good at the time, but that probably means it was pretty hit and miss.

I know that Newman and Baddiel got a bit carried away soon after... doing their stadium tours and then there was Baddiels attempt at serious satire on that programme with Andrew Gove and the woman off Newsnight.

Punt and Dennis stayed in mainstream comedy, and some of the results have been pretty good.

I thought it was OK...but just that. I liked it more than the Vic Reeves stuff around at the same time, but it wasn't a great time for Brit comedy for me.

I really really like Outnumbered with Hugh Dennis at the mo, written by Andy Hamilton iirc.

Thinking about it Newman and Baddiel released that History Today vid, so the problem with releasing MWE again must lie with Punt and Dennis - either them or their management or whatever.

It may not have aged that well but you know how it is when you can remember something but not find it - it becomes better and better in my mind unitl I *must* have it!

Could be... but then you mentioned DVD. Was there really that much MWE on TV at all? I think of it primarily as a radio show that briefly transferred to TV.

Is there a problem with a release?

It was definitely released with some hullabaloo a few years ago (I remember big displays at HMV and such). Maybe they just sold what they could and decided it wasn't viable to keep it in print?

Try Ebay or Amazon Marketplace.

It had two TV series (13 episodes) but they've never been repeated. I can't imagine why - it was a cult success at the time and massively popular within my age group.

There were 4 radio series which I've found most of and will be enjoying this evening with a cold beer
