Default Any advice on clearing drains?

The drain that receives our kitchen waste (sink and dishwasher) is full and overflowing.

I've been out there, removed a dead frog, lots of tagliatelle and about a gallon of cream coloured water that smelled of sick. I then prodded about with a stick expecting the remaining waste to flow away. It didn't.

Just been to B&Q and bought some "pro" drain clearing fluid which appears to be mostly made up of sulphuric acid and followed the instructions to the letter.

Unfortunately after an hour or so the blockage is still there. So, any amateur plumbers out there who can tell me what my next step should be?

All advice gratefully received. Ta.

A plunger.

Always better than a stick.

Plunge it till all the crud comes out.

It's as satisfying as puking after a heavy night out.

the orange one..... so I poured some down the drain last thing at night and it worked a treat, it has little metal bits in it that react or something and eat away at the blockage. whatever it does it worked..

This is what I used:

It cost nine quid so it should work! But doesn't seem to have done so far.

This is the problem:

The drain is square so would a plunger still work?

1) find out where all your sewage flows into and get some drain rods.
2) Push drain rods down the offending hole untill they appear at your sewer mains.
3) Attach the rubber attachment.
4) Pull rods through at the sewer mains.

It is a very good idea to hose down the sewer mains and ensure that nobody is going to flush a toilet while you do this.

Drain rods look like this

Ta Mags. I'll have one more go with the acid tonight and if that fails I'm off to Wickes to buy some drain rods.

Why not just buy some rods from screwfix for £20?

Call Dial-a-Rod

Trust me - let them get up to their armpit in raw sewage. They get paid for it.

Last call out I had cost about £90. Worth every penny. He had to lay on the ground and really get his arm in to the shoulder - proper floating logs and everything was in it.
