I'm gonna be jamming initially as guitarist in a three piece rock covers band...possibly.As there's gonna be quite a bit of Lizzy stuff, and a couple of Bad Company, I was thinking of utilising a harmoniser type effect to try and duplicate some of the more well known stuff, maybe not on sol's although if there's one that can track that quick it'd be cool, but I just wondered if anyone out there actually does this, or has tried it, it's not for Queen/Brian May type stuff, just the Lizzy kinda dual guitar sound. ![]() |

I use a whammy (actually the whammy setting on a EX-7 expression factory) as a harmonizer and it works well for single note stuff but does struggle a bit on chords. The EHX POG and HOG and Eventide Harmonizer(expensive) track brilliantly though. I've also heard the Boss one (cheaper)is very good too. It'll never sound quite like two guitars but for live work it's fine. If you use a two amp setup it'll be even better.

It seems all pitchshifter/harmonizer type effects are pricey. AFAIK the full scale HOG/POG units with separate controllers add up to about £350! Even the Micro POG with just octave +- is about £100!
For the functionality the Boss pitchshifter and harmonizer pedals are pretty good value IMO. |

From what I've seen, the EH Pog/Micro Pog look like a pretty good bet. |

The micro pog tracks amazingly well. Even with full/palm muted chords it runs as clean as a whistle but it only does octaves, not harmonised 3rds/4ths/5ths which you need if you want to do any Thin lizzy/metal style 2-part lead bits.

Hmmm, yeah I'd prefer one that I could pick the harmony, not bothered about harmonising chords just single note riffs and the odd lick maybe, what's the Boss Harmoniser like, I certainly wouldn't be going to the expensive end with Eventide and the suchlike, but up to maybe £100.00 mark.![]() |
