Default Bollox!

Well after a promising start, followed by five consecutive rehearsals cancelled, a bass player leaving cos' the music wasn't what he really wanted to do, and subsequently let down by another player I have all but given up on our fledgling band!

Just can't be arsed anymore, I guess deep down I too was becoming a little 'uncomfortable' with the direction we were being driven so the issues we've had have only compounded my misgivings I guess.

Any-hoo, one door shuts another one opens and all that y'know, the Bass player we had and i got on really well together it turned out, (Nice when two people who've never met just hit it off isn't it? ) and he wants to initially just jam most weekends, as a three piece, the intention being that if we sound and feel confident enough we play just small venues, (Think biker bars or that kinda ilk.) and do it strictly for fun, which after the last attempt at 'fun' will hopefully be a breath of fresh air!

So what I'm after from you lovely folk out there are suggestions for a Classic Rock three piece to play, it'd have to be able to be carried off with one guitar bass and drums obviously, bikey type rock, (i.e. Classic) although open to more up to date stuff if we like the sound of it, I'm not immensely 'widdly' although I apparently get by, think more Slash, Kossof, Bad company blues rock type style.

We've picked the following initially,

Jailbreak, (Gary Moore's version as a three piece off the 'One night in Dublin' DVD)

Don't Believe a Word, (off the same DVD)

Can't get enough of your love, Bad Company, (I know there's two guitars, but I think it should sound not too bad with one.)

Wishing Well, Free.

As you can see, not many yet, but all ideas gratefully received!

Blimey ! The world is your lobster, mate !

You could do practically anything by The Who, Cream, Rory Gallagher, The Faces, Rolling Stones, Hendrix (leaving out the widdly bits if you like), Dr Feelgood, Chuck Berry, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Van Halen...

For a short while I was single guitar in a classic rock band, and we got away with stuff like "The Boys Are Back In Town" without any trouble, when you think it'd die without the harmonies.

If you want song names, I'll dig out our setlist...

Bikers love Motorhead: FACT. So Ace Of Spades?

Also:
Won't Get Fooled Again, The Who

Black Sabbath, War Pigs or Paranoid

Deep Purple, Highway Star

You could do more Thin Lizzy with a good harmonier/pitchshifter too.

Cool that'd be handy actually, I wondered about the boys are back, so it sounded ok?

yeah I wondered about using a harmoniser but was worried about tracking issues, or it sounding more like a keyboard synth than two guitars?

Definitely classic pub-rock stuff like Feelgood's, Nine Below Zero etc. What about some punky stuff; Ramones? Also check out Supersuckers for some ideas.
