Default Phwoar! You might want to give it a minute...

... for I have gassed.

In the "What's your Holy Grail" thread, I wrote:

And then....

Here it is: My new acquisition (with new amp in the background, and jealous older sibling looking on).

It's awesome. The 480 Alnico V is my new favourite neck pickup of any I've ever played. It's the first guitar I've ever had where I'd use the neck in preference to the bridge for rock rhythm. It's so clear and so deep at the same time, and sounds massive. I'm less sure about the bridge pickup... I'll live with it for a while before making a call to Mr. Bare Knuckle, but sometimes it sounds harsh to my ears.

Overall, this is one of my best ever GASes. Although I have no documentary evidence, the previous owner tells me it used to belong to Gary Moore. I believe him. I used to live in Brighton and occasionally see Mr. Moore in GAK (where previous owner bought the guitar), so the story seems plausible to me. And because the seller didn't tell me about it until after I'd paid, it didn't seem like he'd be lying.

So I have the guitar I've wanted most in all the world for the last three years.

Congratulations!

A nice looking pair you've got there ...

It's not appropriate just yet, but I guess in a few weeks we'll be able to ask "what do you want now?"

Ha! Yeah, I have no idea what I will lust after next... This has genuinely been my biggest want for several years. If I had money left to burn I guess I could upgrade my overdrive pedals, but honestly I have everything I could want for now.

Yeah, but you haven't heard what I'm going to play on it!

Actually, I thought of you when I was buying it, knowing it's the one guitar in the universe we would completely agree on. I struggle to see how anyone could not like this guitar. It's versatile as hell too. I reckon it'll do everything short of full-tilt metal. And by that I mean proper Pantera/ Slayer metal, which I don't play much. I've changed my mind about the bridge pickup; for now I think it sounds awesome.

Even compared to the relatively low-powered humbuckers in the other Les Paul, it doesn't give much distortion through my amp, so my technique will be getting a workout.

Cor, that's lovely! Black LP customs are the shizzle...I would love to own one one day.

Just been listening to some of your myspace clips...Dark Matter is rather good.
