Default Joining a Band

I'm looking to join a band, or at least find the necessary musicians to form one (in the peterborough area). Can anyone give me any advice on how to accomplish this? I'm not too fussed by genre.

Wink

can't post you a link from this pc but there is also the joinmyband site plus the musicradar classifieds plus classifieds in magazines ( eg Guitarist) and local papers as well as pinboards in shops and rehearsal rooms.
Its a frustrating business. Read /watch The Commitments for the process condensed into 10 minutes.

generally people are chasing something quite specific so depends if you are looking to join others or have them join you. Also, not to be ridiculous. My favourite in the local paper here was Corrs tribute band seek female vocalist and violinist.
Yes, so they had what exactly?

And, playing is more likely to get you noticed so consider jam nights, jamming with a friend's band, etc.

I cannot think of any well known musicians associated with Peterborough so you could always move house. Having been to Peterborough you could probably take that as general advice anyway...

AsI sit here overlooking the lovely hamlet of West Bromwich...

I got my first auditions when I was looking to get into a band from Forming Bands and Muso Finder.

I'm pretty happy with the band I'm in at the moment. I still get emails from the first lot though including this one at the weekend -- and bear in mind they have got my details, I'm a bloke, and I've said I don't want any band under 30:

"We have just got together and we are looking for a girl bassit. We are a rock girl band and are serious about our band and also like a laugh. Our future plans are to play little gigs do some battle of the bands until we get noticed. [Average age: 15]"

I kind of fancied having a go pretending to be 15 year old girl bassit though

Oli, now you need to dress like a schoolgirl and pose for a pic holding a bass. You just must.
