Default EQ'ing acoustic to pick up tapped harmonics

Dear All

I'm currenlty recording my Tanglewood electro-acoustic into my PC, using a mixture of my Boss GT5 and various VST effects/EQs. I'm trying to set it all up so that tapped harmonics (think Andy McKee/Erik Mongrain, but simplified and played badly by an idiot ) will ring out. Any suggestions about how best to set up the EQ?

Thanks

EQ:- no idea, but I suspect compression is key to getting that sound.

I believe Antonio Forcione says that midrange is key. And practise, it's the same as slide guitar. You can get unfeasibly good if you just stick at it and find a technique that works for you.

Probably easier to get that sound with a good solid-top jumbo acoustic and a decent condenser mic.

I struggled to get the right sound for this style of playing with my Yamaha CPX 900 using the built-in pickup.

Having said that, Antonio Forcione got a fantastic sound when demoing the new high-end Yamahas at Chappells a few months back. So it's probably just me!

Dear All

Thanks for the feedback. Though these are my first tentative steps into this technique I can pretty much play the actual piece that I've put together (I basically play the desired chord shape hybrid picking style and then "slap" the strings with the side of my right little finger at the 12th fret to produce the harmonics), but it's capturing that sound which has been the particular challenge. I'll just mess around with boosting the mids and faffing with the compressor and see how I do.

Cheers
