I thought this film was quite shit. I read the book beforehand and really liked it, but I was really disappointed by the "classic one of the greatest films of all time" film version.

Gah.

Gosh.

I hated it when I was a kid but I love it now and think it is indeed one of the greatest films ever made.

Almost certainly the greatest science fiction film ever made, IMO....well, I can't think of any better off-hand, anyway.

It's strange, I really do love and "get" the plot from the book, I just felt that the film was a poor representation....... perhaps upon another viewing I may feel differently about it.

I definetly feel there's something I'm really not quite getting about it! I shall see how it stands up in my mind with further viewing.

What do you love about it?

The visual majesty, the cosmic scope, the stately pacing...it's just a superb example of top class film-making. I am in awe whenever I see it. I love everything about it.

One of the most over rated films by one of the most over rated directors imo.

I dont think the fx at the end really conveys what is supposed to be happening (limitation of the tech at the time really) plus it misses out a big chunk of what the hell is going on from the book.

I like 2064 the bestest of the 4.

That's what I felt about it. I'll give it another go tonight I think. I love most Kubrick and I love the book, so I really feel I should like this, but it's almost like there's something missing...
