Default Multiple VSTis and MIDI Hell

Dear All

I am going nuts trying to deal with this trio of issues that I think all relate to my MIDI ignorance:

1 I am using Acid Pro 6 and when I have multiple VSTi's open sometimes my Oxygen8 controls one, sometimes another and sometimes more than one at the same time. I'm sure it's to do with the MIDI routing and channel selection, but I've tried numerous different plans of attack and I'm still getting garbled results.

2 I keep getting the situation when I can hear the synth I want working, can see that the signal is getting thru to the Acid peak meters, but when I arm the channel and record, the MIDI info does not get recorded so I end up with a blank MIDI channel.

3 I can't use different voices from the same VSTi on multiple MIDI tracks.

I've tried searching the forum, but if yo usearch for "VST" or "softsynth" pretty much every post comes up.

Can any of you help this frustrated MIDIot? Or does anyone know of a good online guide to using multiple VSTi's?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Default not MIDI ignorance

first off all don't beat yourself up about the MIDI confusion.

i think acid pro is an awful app for MIDI and integrating VST's

and i am not an acid basher .it is one of the 2 sequencers i use
i use acid and orion which is almost exactly like REASON.

i've been on acid planet for 7 years so i have a lot of friends who offer different opinions ACID PRO. i have a few friends who do all their MIDI mixing in acid and do great work.

but i have other friends who hate it as much as me.

acid 4 was a good build, the last one before the SONY takeover, acid 5 was atrocious, bogged down by the required media manager. i went back to 4 which is a very stable version.

when 6 came out,i stayed with 4 for awhile until friends convinced me that the new(in 6) feature

integrating VST "effects" plugins

is a not clunky as their integration of VST "soft synths"

since i use a lot of 3rd party plug ins,i tried it and it does work smoothly. i just open up the fx tab for a track and am given the option of using internal ACID pro fx ,some of which are not bad, or my 3rd part fx plugins..but i still have friends who use 4.0

so acid PRO+VST Instruments & MIDI=LOSING PROPOSITION

I THINK THEIR PIANO ROLL IS CONFUSING ,CLUNKY AND GUI CHALLENEGED

....."blank MIDI channel".

TELL ME ABOUT IT ... IF I HAD A DOLLAR FOR EVER TIME...

I use multiple instances of VST's in my orion sequencer.
not MIDI utopia, but it get the job done sufficiently.

ACid pro is great for loop sequencing but i would advise using a different seq for VST soft synths and other MIDI functions.

IF YOU ARE NOT IN A $$$ SITUATION FOR A NEW MAJOR SEQUENCER YOU COULD TRY A GOOD BUDGET sequencer
like energy XT $69.

you can take a demo for a test drive.

baring that, i can share some good thorough instructions from an AP friend if are intent on doing in acid.

it is 6 pages long with excellent diagrams of piano rolls and MIDI windows and record windows

i've only posted here a couple of times but if you give me your email i'll send ya the tutorial..

or if you are on AP type in SONIC EPIPHANY in the search box and message me. that would be quicker and easier

aND Now we have acid pro 7 to deal with

good luck
