They used to write decent pop rock tunes! Just watching Jools holland just now. The two tunes they have played have been poorly played, and poorly wrote. Absolute Drivel.
But I suppose, so was the Gorillaz tune that got played. Al green was the only good thing on the show tonight. |

It's the same old story. The first album was basically just demo quality with a quality mix and master but it had great songs like Brightside and All these things. That sold millions so they go back in the studio with a huge budget but now they don't have the quality material. Hot Fuss was superb, Sams town was a bit weak I though and no about the latest .... if that Human song was considered a strong single then it doesn't bode well for the album.
The moral of the story is write as much as possible while you are poor cos that will probably be your best stuff ![]()

I heard something about Travis's first few albums were all the songs they were gigging with before getting signed up. and once they were big, with proper tours and whatnot, they wrote pretty much no new material. That may be a tall tale though.

I thought besides the few singles on their first album (which were really good) their other songs are completely anonymous.

I thought the first album was great - I think almost every track was a winner. So I eagerly bought Sam's Town and was massively let down. I heard that odds and sods album they put out too which was pretty meh. Unless I hear some knockout singles off the third one I won't even consider it.

![]() I had to turn Fleet Foxes off - I'm sure something (the guitarist?) was out of tune. My ears couldn't take it! The Killers? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Yep, the fleet foxes were a touch painful to the ears. Not sure what was wrong. They were attempting to do something that is hard, but not being able to pull it off fully! I thought Al green's sound was ok. Didn't notice anything too bad. |

No, the moral is the same as it always was - you have your whole life to write your first album and 18 months to write the second.
