Default Advice please! Guitar for garage blues/rock

Hi all!
So I'm absolutely sick and tired of my Piece Of Crap Encore Stratalike, so I just increased my overdraft to £500 and i'm about to indulge in some GASsing!

For my £500 im hoping to get at least a guitar and practice amp, if not a fuzz pedal as well, but if not thats cool.

So for roughly £400, can you help steer me in the right direction!

I'm playing mostly my own stuff, which sorta occupies territory between White Stripes/Blues Explosion/Grinderman, QOTSA and a good helping of classic Rock'n'Roll.

I think I want a Tele, and after playing a Lite Ash in Denmark Street the other day I'm very drawn to it, but if you guys can suggest some other avenues to look down I'd really appreciate it, I'm open to pretty well most other styles of guitar except SGs and strats

Guitar buying can be daunting!!

try out the Baja Tele. Its very, very nice. You'll see quite a few posts of me raving about them.

Great electronics (better than the USA tele's if i remember rightly) and they play nice. I've had comments on the tone from people who play les pauls and stuff on the tone.

Definately worth trying out.

What about an Eastwood? They do modern remakes of classic '50s and '60s Airline/Valco/Supro guitars. Modern playability, very garage-blues styling.

I really like the Reverend make of guitars - good quality, mid price and individual styling. They have a few models that fit your tele and garage rock spec, say the Buckshot, Charger, and Double Agent.

Lag Roxane - £105 on eBay including delivery. Fantastic playability (try one in a music shop if you don't believe me), far better than the price would suggest. The pickups are pathetic, though, so budget another £70 or so for something decent. Personally, I'm getting one on pay day this week, with a SD '59 for the neck and a Lawrence L500 for the bridge.

It's all about the danelectro
cool as fuck and plays sounds better than it should for twice the price
then get a nasty fuzz pedal and an epi valve junior and you'll be laughing!
