Default vox ac30cc2

hi guys, im referring to the cheaper (worse speaker) version of this amp here. Any feedback on if its any good and also, does it only work as one channel or is it footswitchable as if not it will take a lot of its use away from me in a gigging sense?

Can't vouch for the speakers (mine's a CC2X), but I should tell you the channels aren't footswitchable. You can plug into Normal, or Top Boost; if you plug into Top Boost there's also a panel mounted toggle switch that allows you to blend both channels.

Although one might think it would be nice if the channels were footswitchable, I wonder if it really would make the amp more versatile. If for example you think that the Normal channel is too flubby, you could engage its Bright switch. If that doesn't give you the precise tone you want, then use the Top Boost channel with its Bass & Treble controls. I suspect if one channel is too flubby, or too bright, as the case may be for the band you're in, then you'll want to use the other one. Your need for the alternative will be rare, especially if you've got tone controls on your guitar.

Allthough i don't own one, i looked into getting one for gigging but ruled them out, the reason being, you can switch channels if you use a simple AB box but there's no individual channel volume. The only way round it would be to actually boost one of your lines in A or B with a volume boost pedal. Alot of hassle really, would probably effect your whole tone, i think it was an oversite when they designed this amp not to have separate channel volumes, especially when your in a market competing with multi channel amps. I'm going for the VOX AC30HH Head & V212H Cab, when i get the cash together. I allready have a Vox AC30/6 1964/65 with silver bulldogs in, what is by some considered to be more or less the Holy Grail of tone. But worry about taking it out gigging, how much longer can it go on? Bought this amp for £100.00 in 1979, when everybody said the valve amp has had its day, it was sitting unloved in a corner of the shop, behind, all these shiny new transitor amps, all thse cool muso's laughing at me. saying " what do you want to buy, that rubbish for" How wrong they were! Or should i say how easily brainwashed we can, become.

Leftie, it DOES have seperate volumes!!!! Plus universal master.

I love mine, and the speakers are just fine. Up against my mate's Handwired, you'd be hard-pressed to hear the difference in most situations. And his was 3 times the cost.

I have the wharfdale speakers. They sound damn fine to me, so I have no problem. Except the amp is VERY heavy and awkward to move around.

Bottom line- It takes motor skills and practice to develop fast clean playing but a brain to use it wisely and rock guitarists are still recovering from the 80's.
All in all sound is in the ear of the beer holder
