Hi everyone,
Does anybody know how to achieve the Gary Numan 'Are Friends Electric/Cars' synth strings? I think it was performed on a minimoog originally. I've tried to recreate the sound using my Minimoog VSTi but to no avail. many thanks, Simon. |

Hi Simon
I think you're actually on about the main lead which is a Polymoog Preset 1 "Vox Humana" with the filter bypassed and Preset 2 "Strings" also with the filter bypassed. It's a totally unique sound which you won't get close to. The best I managed (with out buying one) is the Nostalgia VST which I'm told is actually several samples stretched over the keyboard. It doesn't sound too bad and is a lot better in the mix. If you go to my website I've got a few Numan covers there which use the Nostalgia sample if you want a few examples. Hope that helps. Regards Mark |

Thanks. I checked out your site. Sounds good.
I have not been able to find a freeware polymoog VSTi! Might have to save up for the Nostalgia VST you mentioned. Thanks again, Simon |
