Default RGT Practice Pal software

anyone use it?? I cant get a straight answer from the shops selling (cos they have nt used it!) and wanted to know what it actually consists of.

Does it incorporate the bits that are usually found in the second part of the RGT books??

Ofcourse but you have gone through complete source of RGT handbooks.

Practice Pal is an amazing music software package that has been specially developed to prepare you for your Registry of Guitar Tutors electric guitar examination.

Practice Pal has been meticulously programmed to contain ALL the scales, chords, modes and arpeggios that are contained in the RGT electric guitar exam syllabus. It covers all keys, all shapes, all positions and all Grades. In other words - an incredible study resource with enough practice material to keep you busy for years!

It can be used for independent study at home with the RGT handbooks or to complement lessons with a teacher.

We know that once you've tried Practice Pal you'll agree that it's the best study aid for electric guitar that you'll ever find!

Thanx,

Im going through the grade books but cant afford a regular music teacher, so when I get to the second half of the book, improvising, repeating part scales, rhythm repeating I cant do that by myself and feel that Im wasting half the book and not learning some of the important bits, so need to know if hte software covers these parts.

it is an ok bit of software but all it does is test you on chords/scales/arpeggios-only a small part of the exam! could easily replicate it by writing every scale/chord/arp you are learning on bits of paper and pull them out of a hat!!
I would recommend getting the rhythm/lead books too, they have extra chord progressions for practicing the rhythm playing and improv sections.
As for ear training try www.musictheory.net good for interval/chord ear training.
Unfortunately i am yet to come across anything to help practice the rhythm exercises and repeating melodic phrases though, thats where you probably have to get hold of a teacher.

I just did my grade 6 yesterday!! grade 7 looks scary!!!

I just got it, and tbh if I had seen it first I certainly wouldn't have bought it.

I was hopeing it would show the arps a bit better than the book. The arps look too straight forward in the book to be honest.
I did level 6 last week too and am moving on to 7. Been playing nearly 30 years and enjoying my playing now more than ever but the hours it's taking for these exams is meaning I can't do much other playing.

My guitar teacher gave me the practice pal stuff that he had from the days when they were on floppy discs (!), and they helped me a lot preparing for my grades 1-8.
Like someone else said, they're like drawing a scale/arpeggio/chord randomly from out of a hat, except it plays it along with you.
I always thought it would be a lot more worth the money if you could input your own scales/arpeggios/chords into it, as that would help me a lot with some of the newer things I'm learning, but ah well.
Also, does anyone know if they do the software for Macs nowadays?

bigdawg all you can get for improvising is the 'Improvising Lead Guitar' books that have a CD with a band playing a rhythm that you can improvise over. There's nothing on the practise pal software.
