Default Any suggestions for a replacement pickup?

I bought a Gibson Flying V a few days ago, the neck pickup had been replaced with a GFS Mean 90 (p 90 pickup) but it still has the original 500T bridge pickup.

The neck pickup sounds pretty good but i really dont like that 500T pickup, its kind of harsh and a bit too high gainy for my tastes.

Im pretty lost when it comes to replacement pickups but im looking for something a bit more subtle than the 500T and any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I was thinking along the lines of either a Seymour Duncan Antiquity or even a JB at the bridge, i know a lot of people replace bad sounding stock pickups with either of these though i have no personal experience with either of them.

Also a while ago i owned an Aria Pro guitar from around 1978 or so and that guitar had Dimarzio Super Distortion pickups that i really liked, does anybody here know if Dimarzio have changed these pickups? I thought they sounded brilliant in the Aria Pro though they would probably sound a lot different in the Flying V

I might be getting a set of Bare Knuckles Mule pickups in a few days that i had intended to use as replacement pickups for a SG copy i own that plays good but sounds like shit, whats the verdict on these pickups? is it worth replacing the bridge pickup of the V with a Mule?

Im more of a blues/rock player than a metalhead so im looking for something a bit more vintage sounding / lower gain than the 500T, any suggestions?

+1, if you mainly play blues/rock and don't need high gain, it's way too hot, basically. and has the wrong voicing too, if you ask me.

You need something vintagely and PAF like. I used to hate the JB I had and got rid of it. Try a Dimarzio PAF Pro.

Hmm, this is quite interesting as the JB is probably my all time fave pup, I've been putting them in guitars since the late '80s. Yes, perhaps they're hotter than you would technically need for blues or rock but all I have ever needed to do is back off the guitar volume a bit.

Maybe its just me but I struggled to get a decent sound with ANY type of set-up. More than likely its just a tonality that I don't like as it doesn't sound like a vintage PAF. I did have some Duncan 59's that were superb.
