Default Boss Micro BR adaptor

Thanks to audacious, I am now the proud owner of a micro br. As an adaptro seems to be pretty essential, I'd better get one!

Is it the Boss PSA adaptor that I should be buying, or would others work without causing damage? I never know whether or not to believe manuals that say, 'only use X adaptor or you may cause damage'...the cynical part of me suspects they're just after more moeny

Also, do any of you use any external mic? The built in mic seems pretty good at capturing sound.

Cheers

I used mine to record some rehearsals a few weeks back running off a spare plug from the daisy chain off the other guitarist's pedal board and it was fine. A friend also recorded our gig with one using a stereo condenser mic and it did seem quite a bit better than the internal one. Probably just because it was in stereo though. I'm considering mounting mine on my pedalboard for rehearsals, just so it's easy to record all of those random 10 minute jams and I don't forget it!

Thanks, Steve. It's pretty versatile, isn't it?! I've just ordered a Boss PSA adaptor, but I'll think about the mic thing a bit.

Good idea to mount it on the pedal board.

Yeah, I like it because I've always wanted something for recording bits and bobs but was never interested in getting a 'proper' multi-tracker and making more indulgent 'vanity demos'. I just use it as a notebook really but the editing and tracking facilities do come in handy for me when writing our harmonised double guitar bits.

Using the stereo mic for recording that gig we ended up with a pretty cool live recording which sounded at least as good as any live bootleg I've ever heard.

this mic works great with the micro br

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SONY-ECM-D...d=p3286.c0.m14

best £7 you could spend, just make sure you switch on plug in power for the microphone or it wont work

Thank you very much, Keith. Just bought it! It's the same mic as my band mate's got with his...I thought they were more expensive than that!

Cheers

Glad to help! I take it you do know about activating the plugin power for external mic. What is really cool is with that mic attached you can record a whole band practice.

also, if you go here http://www.rolandus.com/products/pro...x?ObjectId=718 and dowload the wav convertor for pc it can read the files off the memory card of a micro br and convert them to wav files to use in a sequencer or just to transfer them to a PC. You need a card reader, but you can then just take the card out of the BR and read the files.. a best kept secret that one!

Brilliant, Keith, thanks...the wav stuff is very interesting...and we have a card reader kicking around somewhere. I was wondering about using the tracks in a sequencer, so that sorts that out!

And, I read about the plugin power thing in the manual, so I'll read it properly when the mic arrives!

not about adaptors, but this site has some useful stuff on it for micro BR owners.
