They were always rubbish though, even compared to their competitors, imho.

Vettas do seem to hold their value pretty well (with the occasional utter eBay bargain)

Mmmmm, motorised knobs. That is very cheap. Although I have heard tales of the patches altering themselves mid-song...bet that's interesting during a gig!

One thing that worried me about the Line 6 Spidervalve when I tried it out in the shop was that at one point, the amp knob seemed to wander from one amp model to the next, resulting in a huge leap in volume and gain level! I assume this was just the vibration of the amp causing the knob to rotate...wouldn't be much fun if it happened at a gig...

I remember playing a cyber twin in a shop and thinking it sounded awesome but it was way too expensive...£300 is a great price though (IMHO).

The Cyber Twin I remember got a very good review when Guitarist mag reviewed it a couple of years ago.

Bottom line- It takes motor skills and practice to develop fast clean playing but a brain to use it wisely and rock guitarists are still recovering from the 80's.

Now that would be the ultimate in jazz; free-form tonal shifting.

I suppose the main reason modeling technology never holds its value for very long is because its still in working development i.e tomorrows modeler has more fireworks and lasers where as bog standard conventional amps only really change in terms of build quality and if they are optimum quality to begin with then it makes very little difference if they were designed 10 years ago or last year .
I would probably like digital storable tone settings in a conventional amp though that may effect reliability 10 years down the line.
Probably smarter just to use a Boss EQ 20 with a normal amp.
