![]() I traded an EHX Bass Microsynth for this yesterday, this thing can be used as a really nice sounding tremelo effect and of course its a ring modulator.. Its kind of strange though, you spend many years practicing and working on your technique, you also spend a bunch of time and money on finding the right guitar and the amp that sounds best, then you buy a ring modulator that makes you sound like you have no idea what your playing and that your gear is broken.. |

*drool*.
I really want a ring mod...have you seen the zvex ringtone? Ideally i'd have one of them but its a bit too pricey really! maybe I should just bite the bullet and make my own ring modulator. Its a pretty simple circuit after all...

I've got a Lovetone Ring Stinger!
TBH, It's absolutely stupid and of no real use to anyone unless Dalek noises are your thing. |

Why ? Seriously... what the hell use is a ring modulator ? What possible musical benefit can a ring mod bring to anything ? Just a horrible, horrible, pointless noise.
In my humble opinion, of course ! |

Heres the thing, i thought these things were rubbish too until i tried it, you can get a really beautiful tremelo effect with it where you can control the speed/depth of the tremelo with the expression pedal, also you dont have to run the ring modulator full on, you can balance it with the clean signal so you just have a small amount of the ring modulated signal alongside the clean sound, you can really get some amazing ghostlike textures with it that way, this pedal is not just for making obnoxious bleeps, screeches and farts (although that can be fun too) Two guitarists that spring to mind that use ring modulators are David Torn and Adrian Belew, they sound pretty good to my ears at least. |
