Default You Too Could Do This.

A little ditty to keep the leprechauns at bay. Made using Reason 4, RealStrat (highly recommended bit of software) and a real Ibanez. Hopefully somebody out there might like it.

Starts off like every other home made electronica tune. Drums kick in, sound solid, and real. That strat thing sounds great! sound a touch top heavy though, not alot of mids coming through on my ssystem. Like the idea of this tune though. Got almost a live feel sound to it. Think its the drums thats doing it. Do I hear U2 almost?

Default If only I could sing!

Thanks both guys above. I promise myself that I will get some monitor speakers (one day) as the mix is mainly headphones - so missing mids aren't as obvious as I'd like. There have been a few comments made regarding the "live" feel of the track - which I should take as a positive. I don't want a guitar pop/rock track sounding like the insides of a pc!
Regarding the opening synth - that was there to confuse and create a feeling of "here we go again", but then some "real" intruments save the day!

Cheers,
Grum.

It's a link to the track on Soundclick. If it doesn't work for you - and you care - then click on the Soundclick or MySpace link on the bottom and navigate to the song using stealth and common sense. It will be be the top song on both sites. I think that MySpace sounds cr@p though.

Grum.

Try this:

Strange as it did work!

Edit: Actually the link appears to be buggered!
Second edit: And now it works... it's those bloody leprechauns messing about!

lol, Nicely worded, I do care.

the link worked.
I wasn't fond of the drums. I think they're tpop far forward for such a simple line. They could have done with taken back a bit, then in the busy tom section brough up alot more then they were (it's almost like they're to far forward, except for when you actualy want them forward, and then they're not forward enough- the complete opposite you would want)
the guitar tones are lovely, and I dont "miss" a vocal, besides the questionably mixed drums (and their still not that bad) I though the whole thing was very well done.

sequencing, sound quality, musicianship, all fine.

nice work.

Thanks. Drum comment noted. I think they are prominent as when I listen to "commercial" tracks the first thing hits me is that the drums are right up there and everything else fits around. Being a guitarist at heart I've had a tendency to bury the drums under everything else - so it's possible I've over-compensated!
I've just cut a cd so I'll be able to listen on other systems - so a little tweek might be on the cards.

Cheers again.

Just had a listen in the Focus and it sounds good and meaty - so I'll leave "as is" for this one, but all comments taken aboard for the next one!

thats always the best what to go. I don't think I've ever taken criticism on board for the actuyal track posted, if you did, then you'd be stuck with the messy task of fixing it, reposting it and awaiting more critisim, and so fourth. much better off taking the advice and applying it to the next project.
