(losing the battle to resist typing Piss-AS
)Bought it yesterday, but haven't had a chance to set it up yet! Also bought Mario Kart and had Big Beach Sports free, and some battery pack thing that I haven't looked at. I was desperately trying to get one of the stores to give me some sort of discount from buying the Wii, Mario Kart, extra remote, nunchuck and steering wheel, but no-one would budge! After some effort, I managed to persuade GameStation to take a £1 off the steering wheel to price match HMV!! I thought the high street stores were struggling...doesn't sound like it to me! Anyway, looking forward to playing it (and have a birthday coming up, so may need Wii fit and the Olympics game soon!!). For all those who know about these things, what excitement is ahead of me? Are there any free games to download from Nintendo (I feel the need for old skool Mario!)? Recommendations, hints, tips, general Wii banter required! Apologies for this probably having been done dozens of times before, but I didn't have one then and ignored all the Wii topics ![]() And I would like to say, Nintendo rock! Even the Wii box is extremely cool (with the 2 'shelves'). And backwards compatibility means I can get rid of the GameCube and save some space!

Not much free, but the Virtual Console games are pretty cheap.
Paper Mario (the VC one, not the Wii one) is magnificent. Bear in mind that the Gamecube version won't work on Wii (can't save games) and that the Wii version is rubbish, so just stick to the N64 version on the virtual console. Super Mario 64 is pretty good too.

Yup, I think the SNES one is in there too.
Ooh - in the Wiiware section, Lost Winds is quite wonderful. Also the Lego Star Wars and Indiana Jones games, and I am greatly enjoying Pangya, which is a sort of slightly silly golf game.

Don't forget to download Super Mario 3 from the VC! The finest Mario game evar.
You're in for a treat clare. There's loads of good stuff on the VC to download - Don't bother with the Internet Browser, bit of a waste of money imho. Oh and bear in mind, if you want to download and play the N64 and SNES games, most of them will require you to use the Classic Controller, which you'll have to buy extra as you need more buttons. The NES, Megadrive, Master System games are all good though ![]()

It will indeed. There's a flap on the side of the Wii with 4 Gamecube ports.

I didn't know about the game cube controllers. Don't suppose anyone has a spare one that they want to give me? ![]()
