Question Hagstrom Swede/Super Swede: any good?

I've been thinking about getting one of these for quite a while now.
Not been able to actually hold or play one though, so unsure they are worth the dough.
Anybody got one? or played one?
I also quite fancy a J Mascis Jazzmaster as well...

There was a review in Guitar buyer of a couple of Hagstroms and they said they sounded good but the quality of the fretting was a bit shoddy. That could be sorted out fairly easily though.

Hagstrom have always had a good reputation. In the 70s/80s people bought Hagstrom for the superior build quality to Gibson (plus they'd more or less dropped Europe as a market).

They're seemingly dead trendy at the moment too ....

Hmm, your average Les Paul was horrifically expensive compared with Hagstrom; I think that was the primary motivation and Hagstrom wasn't very highly thought of-definitely seen as a cheapo European
alternative-at least that's how I remember those times.

The 70s ones were breath-takingly good. Lovely things and you used to be able to pick them up for buttons in the 80s (grrrrrr )

I haven't seen any of the new ones in the flesh.

But they're better looking than Les Pauls, so deserve consideration if you want a single cutaway humbucker thing.

Tried a new super swede last year, I was fairly impressed and thought it played very well overall. Definitely one of those guitars you find yourself playing for a good while in a GAS emporium! It sounded a bit more bassy than your typical LP. It did however feel and sound better to play than the Epi LPs I tried at the same time. I would reccomend giving one a try
