Question sound city sc40

Hello.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to improve the sound (and volume) of this amp when it is at full chat?
At full bore, it can sound muddled and farty: especially with palm-muted power chords.
Sounds cool at 1/2 to 2/3rds volume, with the drive at 12 o'clock, but it's not that loud for a 40 watter.
I've got vintage 30's in it; which has helped.
Is a change of valves the answer?
Or is it just a shit amp?

2x12 40w valve combo with vintage 30's not loud enough? I'm curious as to whats wrong with this....or are you trying to go deaf?

Bottom line- It takes motor skills and practice to develop fast clean playing but a brain to use it wisely and rock guitarists are still recovering from the 80's.

Well actually, my hearing ain't wot it used to be!
But seriously- I not only have to try and be heard alongside the other guitarist (hi Steve) but also the bass players 400 watt rig and the unfeasably loud drummer!
I really do need some help!

He's a volatile character. The mardy huff would be unbearable.

Yes do this and when the drummers not looking swap his sticks for some brushes, and tell them your now jazz fusion. Seriously though, although not a thorough try I did try one in Sound Control a while ago and it did get pretty loud pretty quickly! And you've got V30's in as well!!
