We've had a dancy one, a rocky one, and now for your listening pleasure (?) you can have an orchestrial one.
Any mixing tips (apart from "just turn the volume down to zero") appreciated as it isn't that easy to mix an orchestra! Grum. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6690282 |

Actually, I quite liked it. The samples are awful though. Sounds like a monstrous cross between a melotron and a Playstation 1 soundchip. Strangely, the violin isn't too bad though. I find it so hard to tell what the instruments are actually supposed to be I can't really offer you much advice, but it sounds very unbalanced. I think the thing that's trying to be some sort of woodwind is far too loud.
What on earth did you use for this? The sounds are truly terrible. I quite like the piece though, the way it jumps about.

Don't hold back!
It is the Reason "Orkestra" soundbank, which I agree isn't fantastic in this day and age, but it is the main one I have! It is more likely a lack of mixing/balancing skill at my end than a fundamental fault with Reason. I'll have a listen on another system and see if I can figure a way of getting better clarity. At least you didn't say that the basic idea/tune was sh!t. |

To be a bit more constructive:
The instruments need to me much closer together, in terms of levels. That woodwind thing is far too loud. Just try to bring everything together. Also, top tip for orchestral mockups: don't be afraid to use FAR more reverb than you would normally. As I said, I do like it!

Yeah, sorry, I got a bit hurt but having a good listen I generally agree and have been doing a remix based on what you said. I will post later when, hopefully, the balance/mix will be better.
Cheers. |

To Bob and anyone else interested.
New version now available - delayed due to a 4 hour powercut that meant I also missed the British Grand Prix - bummer. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6690282 Please give it a go. |

Thanks to Bob G as the remixed tune has given me my first Soundclick number one charting song.
I'm a happy bunny as I never thought I could do that. It is especially pleasing as obviously I didn't know what I was doing! Thanks to those who had a listen. Grum. |
