Svee, the guy who's doing the airbrushing/ refinishing on my PRS, sent me these photos today to show me how it's going...
![]() ![]() It started life like this: ![]() Let the abuse begin! I'm thinking of putting some decals on it too, just to really piss everyone off. It feels pretty punk rock to put stickers on a PRS, if it's possible to be in any way punk rock while playing a guitar worth more than a grand. |

I like it more with the re-finish. Plenty of PRSi out there that have been modified with stickers and stuff. The finish is good enough that stickers have no impact on the top coat!

A Corvette themed PRS? I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean Corvette=cool, PRS=ugh. Still, I like the idea of customizing it 'cause I'm sure it'll piss someone off!
So is the Z06 logo painted on or inlaid? |

I decided to keep the flags logo, because that's part of what makes it special. The red on mine also isn't an exact colour match for the original, although it's closer than it looks in those pictures. That colour (Monterey Red Metallic) has been discontinued, and it turns out it's a bugger to reproduce! The fingerboard is inlayed, and the guitar came like that. If it were a paint job, the whole fingerboard would have to be clear coated. I did wonder about a Porsche one, funnily enough. I just love cars. I have a racing stripe on one of my Strats too. I'd quite like a car theme on all my guitars, apart from my trans red Les Paul, which would look stupid with graphics on it. EDIT: Ash96, it's being done by www.sveeart.com. He's a really nice, helpful guy who'll give you an estimate for anything you want. The stuff on his site is outrageous... mine is by far the simplest graphic he's done. Refinishes are expensive though. If you just want a stripe, you might be better off with a vinyl sticker, like I did on my Strat. Last edited by JonnyScaramanga : 06-15-2008 at 09:00 PM. |
