Default Any experts on old Hofner guitars?

Ian (a friend of my Dad) is selling an old Hofner President on eBay.

Unfortunately for Ian, he didn't know too much about his guitar (despite having owned it for 46 years!) and not only advertised it as a Hohner () but also appears to have seriously undervalued his instrument. Several eBayers have contacted him saying it's worth anything up to a grand, yet Ian's reserve was £150!

He reckons he bought it new in 1962 or therabouts and the serial number is 4194 - here's a pic:

So, any ideas as to it's true worth?

Any info greatfully recieved!

OK, A quick phone call to a friend and it looks to be an early 60's one as you say.

Cant value it exact, but the 1960's bass can fetch up to $2200 in the USA. From info I have just got I would say deffo worth more then £500 .

Keep an eye on this one :

Looks like a President to me. I'm not sure it'd be worth that much though, I've seen earlier blond examples in good nick going for £350.

I do miss my '57 Senator...

That sounds more like it.

When Andys was still open, they had a Hofner Club in there for £650. My dad has one (currently in bits at the mo!) which he'll get round to fixing up at some point.

£150 reserve?!? Has he pulled it?

Current bid is £300 with an hour to go - 60 watchers apparently so I reckon it'll make it's money.
