It was my band's last gig, on a Friday night, before we all went our separate ways to go take up other things and the last song in the set was meant to be an acoustic one. However, we didn't get that far... 'cos I had a bizarre, rather embarrassing accident.
I broke a string at (thankfully) the end of a song. However this was a break like no other. I've broken few strings in my time, I usually don't play hard - or I just get to change them before they've worn enough to break. This bizarre, out of the ordinary break... I've broken the odd string before whilst playing, and I've felt them snap before. But this string - it broke directly underneath my finger (it is, really bizarre - what the chances are of it happening, I've no idea) but it got stuck in my finger as well (quite deeply) and broke through the nail so I literally had a guitar string stuck in one end and out the other end - of my finger. Painful much? Try it for yourself... stick a string through your finger - all the way through. You've no idea how much it actually hurt until you've felt it for yourself. It's quite excruciating the amount of pain one guitar string can cause a person. I bled quite a lot I think, I remember my poor Les Paul (thankfully being wine red) came out slightly bloody and I had to give it a damn good clean and re-string. A quick A&E trip, a good clean up etc definitely needed. I must confess before I got that far, I did get to do that last song acoustically - with one less finger and it WAS HELL. |

haha. BLOODY well did, funny. ok on with what i was going to say, how did it get stuck in YOUR FINGER! i've heard of stuck in the tuning, stuck in the bridge, tangled with other strings (not realy with the last one... but) but how did THAT happen? damn i can only imagion if a drum stick breaks while i'm playing and i become a jesus clone with no more wrist or fingers. (haha it was a joke, funny funny laugh laugh)
glad you kept the show going though. |

this means nothing without pics
![]() straight through a finger, jesus i had my 6th string snap straight across my hand and leave a lovely palm length gash once, but the only thing i've had through a finger was a staple, at the top, you could see it through my fingernail. I was only 8 and i can't possibly remember how, but that hurt a fair bit |

you think that's bad, one night I was gigging and a drunk guy spilled my drink...
I was so hot I had to go to the bar and get another one, can you believe it!? ha ha, no, that sounds pretty nasty, guitar stings can be dangerous things, It;s easy to draw blood when changing the bastards.
