A friends kid got something sticky on the back of my Yamaha SG1000, then said kids mum decided to use a cloth to remove sticky pad, unfortunately she used something that had a scouring quality
![]() ![]() I'm never having people with kids round againI now have a small patch of scoured finish on my lovely guitar, any ideas on how to sort this, can I T-cut out light scratching???????? |

A 4 inch patch of light scratching which has made it look silvery grey in that area

You can use brasso on ploy finishes. Thats a mild abrasive.

It'll probably be a case of using milder and milder abrasives and probably finishing up with the one above. It depends on how severe the current scratches are, while you're abrading the finish you're making it thinner so you want to do it as delicately as you can to avoid hitting the wood. I'd probably give it a shot with this polish and if it doesn't seem to be helping then go for something a little harsher like toothpaste or maybe the Brasso as mentioned above (assuming a poly finish). |
