Ah, that ones the sugar mill for the island's mice

And yes, selling coconut juice (or more likely rum) does sound like an appealing way to earn a living in barbados! However, in reality, the islanders who want to get along work more than 1 job - it's not a very rich island! I'll find some pictures of the houses for you...

OK, here's some house pics. Lots of them seemed to just be propped up on single breeze blocks! You wouldn't want to be too heavy footed These ones look as if they've been built a bit better though.

I'd say these represented the average house on Barbados. There are some big, fancy looking houses, but I suspect a good few of those don't belong to locals. Most hosues were small and a little ramshackle.

Clare, I don't mean to scare you.. .but.... are those reflections in the pics or GHOSTLY APPARITIONS!?
Looks like a great place to have gone! I always thought it was St Lucia or someplace you were going! Probably look the same lol.. e.g. beautiful! (like my face.. and your wedding dress! )

They were taken through a bus window! However, my husband (I like typing that!) has a pic of me that he took in a cave that does have a ghostly version of me in it - he took it on some slow shutter speed but didn't warn me not to move for about 5 seconds, I did and the result is a bit scary!

St Lucia was our first thought and I did ask about it on here, but we decided on Barbados for several reasons. The beaches aren't as golden in St Lucia, but I suspect it looks similar apart from that!

Many moons ago I spent a week in a St Lucian shanty town. Met a lovley girl at a reggae street party. The rest of the week was a haze of rum and weed. It was ace...

Glad you had a great time BTW.
