With so many cheap Transmitter / Chargers for the iPOD on ebay, its a minefield. I have heard story's that the cheap ones pick up ignition interference from the car.
What are the brands to look out for ? Griffin seem to come up time and time again. All I want is a unit that plugs into the ciggie lighter at one end, the iPOD at the other, charge's the iPOD, powers the FM transmitter and is noise free. and costs under £25. All I can find so far that has some kind of brand name is this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Griffin-Road.../dp/B000BMXJR8 Anyone using one like this ? |

IMO Before you invest in one, have a looksee at ipod interface wiring kits and see if there's something compatible with your car's head unit, be it original or an aftermarket one
I've found that for my standard focus head unit I can get an adapter that charges the ipod and controls it direct from the head unit, and has no reception issues, for about £50 - which I assume means it may be possible to get one for even less on ebay just something worth looking at

It has the audio inputs, but requires either the multi-disk changer or the Sony unit to activate the inputs. From what I have read so far the FM transmitters are not that good. I might open up the CD player and see if I can tap into the pre-amp inputs . |

Both those options cost a fortune
![]() I have just downloaded the circuit diagram and have found the inputs into the power amp ![]() A simply switch selects iPOD or CD/Radio Othewise I will be sending the iPOD audio signal up the back end of the pre-amp / Jobs a good un. |
