It took my playing to a completley different level, mostly due to the self dicipline attitudes toward learning that I learned there.

I would check out BIMM too.

I was about to a few year ago. In fact I sent an "audition tape", and also paid the deposit. But after I heard pretty bad things about it, and also after thinking that my tape had me running up and down a C major and C minor scale, I then realised that the rumours I heard must be true. The Brighton place I hear is far better these days.

Yep, A few of my friends went down round about that time, in fact it may have been exactly 8 years ago. and they said it was excellent. Great teachers and great facilities. But What I've heard from more recent times was that they more or less just let anyone in who pays the fee's. Which cant be good for the General quality.

I suppose I'm not really allowed to comment seeing as I'm a tutor at BIMM Bristol. I can't exactly be objective but...

I took my higher diploma at ACM and left to take my degree at BIMM. Now I choose to work for BIMM.

Nuff said.

Speaking as objectively as I can, you might as well go for an assessment at BIMM in Brighton or Bristol... it's free, they'll tell you about the college, you'll meet the staff, and if you get offered a place there's no obligation to take it up. It'll give you something to compare to ACM.

I was there round 2000/2001, and the tutors were excellent, as you say Dave K, Guthrie, Pete Callard, Jamie Humphries, Pete Friesen, Eric Roche, Bruce Dickinson...

Sometimes the ACM admin left a little to be desired. This was just before the break-away when Bruce D and Damien Keyes went off to start up BIMM.

Friday afternoons were spent in the Electric Theatre, with Damien and Jamie running the Live Band workshop "Right - you, you , you and you - get up here and play the song !"

It taught me how to play in a band, and how to teach guitar (except they weren't actually teaching that...)
