The graphic novel is not your run-of-the-mill superhero story to say the least. I hope to hell they don't screw this one up, too.

Watchmen must, must remain in comic format only..... I will be awful in any other media.Plus any movie will ditch the pirates.......

I am deeply concerned, especially after V For Vendetta, but then a really good film made by a sensible director that's faithful to the style of the original could be the absolute nuts.
Maybe I'm just setting myself up for disappointment...
