Was having problems with the plugin manager in Cmusic 1.5 - every time I tried to load one it told me it was disabled.
Just read the thread by Mx24. So can I just confirm that if I am using a new intel mac, these VSTs (the ones free on the disc) are not going to work and I am in fact wasting my time? If this is the case, shouldn't Computer Music be warning people of this??? Just had a thought - if I get that Boot Camp thing which will let me start up as Windows will I be able to run the PC Cmusic and VSTs? Or will I still have the same problem as it's still the same computer? |

Many of these programs (e.g., CM-101, DS-404) were written LONG before the emergence of Intel-based Mac so it's no surprise they won't run there, but it's definitely the case that CM could be clearer about what plugins will work in what environments.
Since BootCamp lets you run Windows, it seems to me that the Windows versions of the CM plugins ought to run under Boot Camp / Windows on an Intel-based Mac. I think. I'm a PC guy, so I'm guessing, not confirming. DaveL |

Thanks for the help.
When I previously had access to a PC I briefly used the old Computer Muzys software. With this I was able to bring in my own raw samples (drum hits, bass notes etc) and create tracks with them. I can't seem to do this with Cmusic - it seems to only want to let me use the VSTs (which don't work). Can I still work with my own samples? |

Computer Muzys was/is a more "mature" piece of software than CMusic, so right now CMusic doesn't provide the capability to just trigger an audio sample that CMuzys does. It looks like you'll need to come up with an Intel-Mac / OS X compatible sample player to use with CMusic. 'fraid I can't offer any suggestions, since I'm a PC guy! But find something like that and you should be able to use it in CMusic and use your samples.

MUTOOLS has planned to add an integrated synth/sampler into LUNA.

and fire off an email to Tim Cant at CM (he is the cover disc editor). Sorry if i'm spamming, but it seems to be the best way to get this topic some attention! |

Running Bootcamp and Windows will allow you to run PC VSTs. Running bootcamp is effectively converting your Mac to become a regular PC.
It is annoying that certain CM plugs aren't UB, and I have had to dip my hand in my pocket to effectively replace them, but it's worth it in the end. Mind you, I'm not really expecting that much. For all the press that CM give to Apple, Logic etc, the vast majority of readers are Windows-based. If I were the Editor, I'd do the same.
