Thumbs up Vote for New Muon Contract & Updated CM Studio Plugs!

UPDATED:

Tim Cant at CM informed me that they have indeed discussed the idea of renewing the Muon contract at CM a few times and that there is interest internally, but the question is one of financing.

My assumption is that many of the CM special freebes are one-shot collaborations with developers to get both the developer and CM some attention. Like a "you scratch our back, we'll scratch yours!" deal. "Give us a unique free CM-branded version and we will give you a magazine article which promotes you" so to say.

So... i don't know what to say about it other than readers should speak up and indicate what matters to them in coming months/years for Computer Music magazine. Without a compelling reason to finance a renewed contract, i suspect that CM will just continue to go after the less expensive or free "developer spotlights" like Nebula3CM (which the developers kindly updated) and SynthMakerCM (which i can not find any reference to on their site or forums).

*sigh*

Original Posting:

As per the helpful note from Muon Software's Dave, below, who at Computer Music should we contact to urge them to open a new contract with Muon to get some MacIntel/Vista/Bugfix updates (and new features?) for the Computer Music Studio plugs? Would we contact the current magazine editor?

Any info appreciated!

CM have never enquired about updating these products since their support contracts expired. I still have the source code and it wouldn't be a massive project to update them to UB if we were asked to do so.

I can only suggest, as I always do, that you get in touch with CM and let your views be known.

In the meantime, if you want to try a new free sampler that can trace its lineage right back to DS404 and SR202 why not visit www.samplebase.com and take a look at Satellite.

Kind regards

Where is the "No, I'm happy with them as they are." option :? 8)

(I'm just about to reinstall CM Eve and SR 202 to work on an old project)

I don't think that a 202 that accepted stereo 24bit wavs (or those funny Mac files :wink and had mebbe 4 stereo outs would be a retrograde step.
Same for the 404. And OSX has been out for how long now? Don't forget the Cubase compatibility issues too. No point in confusing newbies with obsolete software - 'spesh when some of the offerings on the coverdisk are top notch.

Would liked to have that 24bit step taken, yes. I've allways liked these simple and easy Muon-CM softwares; used them alot.
Vista....???....not interesting!!

A CM101 with LFO tempo sync would be great. And maybe a delay effect. After all the VSTi I've played with, CM101 is still one of the best-sounding softsynths I've ever heard, and one of the most satisfying to program. Also, SR202 needs to be made more compatible with the GM keymapping for it's drum sounds. I want to be able to drag n drop a MIDI drum part and have the whole kit play the part accurately. And while we're at it, how about a first-class kit library? The last time a kit library was made for the 202, there was only 1 kit I felt was usable. There should be good rock kits, funk kits, synth drum kits, maybe recreating some old drum machines. I have at least one freeware drum sampler with an 808 kit, a 606 kit, etc. And wouldn't it be great to apply those subtractive synthesis controls to tablas, djembes, and drums like that?

Lightbulb DS-404 Kicks Paxx's Butt, Bring it BACK!

... as i said in the subject, DS404 kicks butt in comparison to Paxx. i have been tremendously disappointed with Paxx2 and Paxx3. The GUI stinks both in appearance and functionality. The audio clips at low levels. The included features are hard to use, etc...

i call out again: Renew the CM Studio Classic VSTi Series!!!

CM-101
SR-202
CM-303
DS-404
CM-505

Renew the contract with Muon, get them updated for new DAWs, Vista and Intel Mac OS X.5!!

I voted long ago ...

Trouble is, in the same way that the CM staffers are thinner on the ground, so too are the CM posters.

However, considering how Dave at Muon was pretty influential in the setting up of the original CM VSTs (and how much the CM staffers praise Muon's filter algorithms) you would have thought they would try and keep him on board.
