My Goji-modded Crybaby sounds great.
Unfortunately, it keeps breaking. The last bloke who fixed it explained to me what's up, but since I don't even know how to wire a plug, I didn't pay much attention. (Something about modern Crybabys using some kind of cheaper construction. I think it's to do with the thing inside that looks like a piece of Lego) Anyway, the problem is this: Sometimes when I turn it off, instead of returning to bypass, it goes to a really weak signal. Turning the wah on and off again usually works. But that's crap when I'm gigging. This has been fixed a couple of times, and it's just started again. What's a wah that doesn't have this trouble? I'm happy for it to still have a pot. Pots wearing out once every two years I can deal with. Switches breaking every five gigs I won't. |

The Budda Wah is supposed to be pretty fucking whizz-bang.
http://www.budda.com/gear/epedals/budwah.html Mind you, I really like the Ibanez Weeping Demon wah. It's the least cool wah pedal ever but it sounds awesome and works very well indeed. The physical sweep is a bit big though so it's harder to do wacka wacka type rhythm effects than a Crybaby. It's great for lead stuff and you can set it up to be switch activated or treadle activated. http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/produc.../page/wd7.html

Can't say I've got any reliability issues with my Crybaby. Get in touch with Stuart Castledine (sp?), he can probably sort you out some innards that'll be bombproof. I know Sporky is very impressed with his

Well you could just get a new conductor for your Crybaby for about £20, no? I presume that'd the bit that's broken - did the same on my mate's Crybaby. Check out Mr. Castledine's site.
Alternatively, the Morley Classic Wah isn't bad & I very much like my Budda. ![]()

I funking love Morleys, but many hate them; definitely a try-before-you-buy job.
