I got a letter from Brighton Council this morning, dated 30/03/08.
And a SIXTY QUID FINE. "Ha!" I thought, "I wasn't even IN Brighton on the 30th." Then I read it properly and saw it related to the 2nd. But still, when I was parked in Brighton, I never got a parking ticket. If I had, I'd have paid at the time and the fine would only have been thirty quid. I'm contesting it now. But it still seems really unfair. I was parked in an empty street on a Sunday morning with no pay and display machines on it. Ah... I just sound a bit pathetic now. But parking tickets = teh suckzorz. ![]() |

I'm in the middle of appealing £500's worth of parking tickets at the mo:
Parked legally, with a resident's permit. Went away for a week on business. Permit fell out of windscreen onto car floor (still visible through window). Got back to find 5 x £100 parking tickets, and, best of all... ... a voicemail from the council, saying "Uh, yeah, we're giving you a load of parking tickets, even though we know you've got a valid permit for that car and the spot you're parked in. You might like to check your permit." "Yeah, that's a though. Alternatively, STOP GIVING ME FUCKING TICKETS YOU MONGTARDS!" Anyway, says in their bumpf that they'll forgive the first instance of a permit falling down, and I'm asking for all 5 to be counted as one. This has been going on since Jan. We'll see. |

Just to add, if you appeal, and they reject your appeal, most places will offer you the discounted rate again (£30, in your case). This is because you can't normally appeal until they issue the notice to owner, which doesn't happen until after the discounted period expires.

a huge amount of residential streets in brighton are permit only parking - so there wont be pay and display signs ![]() I get really annoyed with car park people who charge bikes the same as cars, then expect all the bike users to cram into the space of two cars (if done the right way you fit about 10 bikes, so they must rake it in that way), so rather than get a fine I'll pay but use up a whole parking space

I always pay my parking fines straight away.
One day I'll start a revolution and end this oppressive regime! Until then I like to keep my head down so they won't see me coming.

Near enough the same thing happend to my brother. He was fined 150 for parking outside where he lived because the council were slow in issuing a valid permit, he fought it in court but lost even though it was down to council tardiness! The stress that he went through though dealing with them wasn't worth it he said, but he really thought he'd win. Council red tape is INSANE! Good luck in sorting it out lofi Last edited by Whammyman : 04-03-2008 at 03:03 PM. |
