Default beginnings of a band?

This could be construed as a bit bloggy, but I know you all want to know!

I could possibly be in the midst of the beginnings of a band! I met a guitarist from Forming Bands a few weeks ago and we decided to meet up to learn some songs together. In the meantime, he has also met a singer, and the singer knows a bassist and drummer who are interested in getting together with us.

The other guitarist and I have jammed together a few times now and a we have a few songs that we're working on (pretty tame poppy tunes, with a few rockier ones that I'm pushing!). We also practiced with the singer at the weekend too. A lot of the stuff is going to be acoustic, but it's all good practice for me. Neither the other guitarist or singer have been in bands, but the singer does a fair bit of karaoke and the guitarist has done a couple of open mic nights. The potential bassist and drummer have quite extensive gigging history, so we're a bit keen to get ourselves to a reasonable standard before we get together with them too!

Anyway, as you're all always so supportive I thought I'd share what I feel is a breakthrough for me.

That's brilliant news Clare

I understand how exciting this is having been through very similar very recently. It doesn't matter how 'grown up' we are : a first band is huge fun and a bit scary, just enjoy it

Exactly . It does help that they are all more 'grown-up' than me

Thanks to you too, Zap.

Well done and make sure you keep going. Even if it takes 6 months, go and do some gigs.

Once you play live for the first time, it's like a very addictive drug and you'll want to do it all the time. One of the best feelings in the world. I remember my first gig about 13 years ago like it was yesterday!

Dunlop pedals say it best on the side of the box "Live to play live"

Good Stuff. have fun.

As Fastboy said playing live is a real buzz.
Playing with other people is also a great way of learning. I reckon I learnt more in the first two months I was with my current band, than the previous year of practicing alone.
