Big Muff is excellent
Boss Hyper Fuzz (old and rare but excellent) = very different to the Muff - more hi-fi but also more controllable. However... I sold both of mine and got a Digitech distortion modeller - It gives you that monster fuzz sound BUT with the benefit of a serious modern EQ system. Any tone you like!

The fuzz bass sound on Rubber Soul is most likely to have been Paul's Rickenbacker 4001 through a prototype Vox Tone Bender that the band had been sent to try out prior to its commercial release.

Yeah, Tonebender would give you that type of sound.
If you want something that you can just go and try, check out the Seymour Duncan Tweak Fuzz. It's great on bass, very versatile and will get you into that Rubber Soul/Revolver ball-park. I also like Big Muff on bass, but that is a completely different sound! The Double Muff isn't bad on bass as it goes... |

The DOD Flashback Fuzz is excellent on bass.
