Default Prices of Gibsons and Fenders from 10 - 15 years back

Is there anywhere I can get information on what companys like Sound Control and other main dealers of the time were selling new Les Paul Standards and USA Strats for ?

I used to have a few old issues of the Guitar Mags from the mid 90's, but I think the wife chucked them out

Oops. I just chucked out a whole load of guitar mags pre-move.

My 'research', such as it is, suggests that 335s are about the same price now as they were 7 years ago. So they haven't gone up with inflation. Which is nice

US $ falling has more to do with that than anyting else, alongside the massive growth in the guitar market.

Most of the old mags I kept are from the mid-80s, but I've managed to find a copy of Guitarist from June 1993...

Gibson Les Paul Standard sunburst - £879 (Coda)

Fender USA Standard Strat - £499 (Cranes)

Ha ha - I thought it was to do with the $ falling but you try and get them to admit that!! Seriously - I've been given all sorts of spurious stories, even when I've said 'Er, what about the weak dollar?!'

Anyway, as long as it means saving extra moolah...
