Hi

I cant think of any other software that does what live does.

What I have seen from time to time is ableton lite going cheap (£10 - £15) on ebay. It gets bundled with midi controllers etc, and then people sell it off. If you are going to buy, I would suggest going on ableton site and seeing what the difference is between the full version and the lite, remeber as well if its an old version you should be able to get a free upgrade to the latest version of lite.

yes i have heard of live lite but its very limited to what you can do. You can only have i think 4 channels and only two effects for the whole of it. So its not so useful. Upgrading still has cost a fair some from the lite version. but thanks for the reply

Sorry to be unhelpful, but your query strikes me as akin to someone saying "I took a Ferrari for a test drive and really enjoyed it, but I can't afford to buy one. Can I get something as good as a Ferrari for free?"

There is lots of cheap or free software that does *some* of the things Live can do, but it's a professional piece of kit with a price to match. The demo was released so that people like you would try it out, then save up the money and buy it. It's a harsh old world, I know, but the guys at Ableton have mouths to feed, I'm sure.
Of course most Live users are using cracked versions, but we won't get on to that old debate.

I forgot to say that most of best free software is on the CM DVD every month. If you have access to a newsagent, 6 quid will buy you lots of goodies that might just make up for your lack of a Ferrari.

Live's demo is just save-disabled, right?

So use the demo and record what you're doing into Audacity and just import the files each time you start a session.

Why not try Live 6LE?

Not as limited as the Lite version but still only just over £100. Bargain.

Just make sure you check the features that you need are included. I didn't and then found out that it couldn't receive MIDI clock...the one thing I really needed it to do.
