Currently using a Marshall MD100DFX, but want to change to a valve amp.
Guitarwise I've got a US Deluxe Strat and a Gibson Standard and generally play rock (Foo's, Green Day, Chilli's type stuff). (Needs to be useable for home practice) Still looking for a combo and would pay between £500 to £1000. Any views on best kit? |

do you like the Marshall sound?
DSL401. Stick a Vintage 30 in it and spend the change from your budget on loose women!

I would SERIOUSLY consider the JVM combo. A fellow forumite is selling one in the "electrics" forum area for £750. Excellent amp. Has 2 master volumes for home use and plenty volume for live.

The Cornford Carrera is a superb combo in your price bracket.
It is 5 to 8 watts, with swappable valves, FX loop, reverb and more importantly than anything else, a great sound.

Does it need to be gigable AND practice use at home, or just home use ?

christ there are litterally 10's in that price range.............you dont 'have' to use power section OD to get a nice sound out of a valve amp at home you know.
apart from the usual Fender/Peavey/Laney suspects............ What about a Rivera Clubster ? and I was mighty impressed with that Fender Super Sonic from yesterdays post (be interesting to hear some views when it arrives) |
