The only way I can think of is to remove or permanently disable the demodulator, which may be where my earlier confusion came from.

Well, that would be true, but once you're within the justice system, you don't have to prove your innocence (yet). Call their bluff; TVL thugs will huff and puff and then they will claim that they're taking you to court. And they might start by issuing proceedings* but their lawyers will stop when they realise they have no evidence to present to court. (Of course, if they've actually gone to the effort of collecting genuine evidence of your evasion - those magical TV detector vans, eye-witness statements, etc - they WILL proceed to court). * The whole fascistic TVL enforcement regime is based on widespread intimidation rather investing any time/effort bothering with proper case-by-case investigation

If you write all in upper case, then it just does that instead.
In terms of the beeb - sorry, I couldn't live without it, not because the content is brilliant, not because it's value for money, but because I can't stand adverts. The kids watch Ceebeebies when they are allowed - much better than all other available programming for the under 5's I'd have mama mirabelle and Captain DJ of the Space Pirates over any of the drivel that is on the commercial kids stations any day, and the lack of adverts with a 3 year old is essential. I listen to Radio4, 2 and 6, with a smattering of radio 3 for good measure (use to be three more often, but they canceled the fantastic mixing it). If I watch a TV film on t he beeb, it isn't interrupted, not so on most other channels. I find the internet presence is very good, with the iplayer now working cross platform, unlike the platform fascist 4OD system which you need cocking windows for, and the news is fast and has a lot of broad coverage, listen again on the radio is nice. In terms of music programming, there needs o be more interesting ne music programming - the loss of Peel and mixing it with nothing to replace is quite sad, none of the people now doing the late night stuff on 1 are really that interesting, and I listen to more folk because thats the most interesting shos on the radio quite often. On th whole though, in terms of TV, I sometimes watch other channels but with the radio, I quite simply can't listen to commercial stations, I listen to some local pirates, and the beeb and thats it. |

That would be like insisting everyone pays a small guitar levy so that all those wanting to play guitar can get a guitar for "free" (well, for the fee, but you get my drift).

Another negative point, concerning watching a film on the BBC is that its usually cut, unless its a foreign, subtitled film. But i do agree with you its more enjoyable watching a film without commercials, i just don't think that its worth the £134 a year to do so. Averaging £6 a film, thats 22 films a year and i can honestly say that i dont watch that many BBC films, there all repeats anyway! |

You have to put up with it because there are more people who support this system than don't, you don't like it? go elsewhere, or get someone who opposes it voted into parliament, thats what a democracy is about.
I have to put up with the fact that animal rights terrorists aren't locked up, and that fox hunting is no longer properly legal, because the government felt that is was/is the consensus of th general populous that these things should be dealt with in this way, and so be it - if you don't like it, writing to your MP should be your first point of call - your point is incredibly churlish. |
