Default eq pedal settings for single coil

Apologies for asking this again, but I can't find what I've done with the settings you gave me before!!

Can anyone give me a rough idea of the setting I need on my Boss GE-7 EQ pedal to make my SG sound like a single coil? I'm hoping to record a version of The Shadows 'Apache' this weekend for my Dad for his birthday.

Cheers

I would imagine it would be quicker to play some notes and tweak it out? I spose boost some highs, pull back some mids a bit, though I've never really analysed it tbh.

BTW I notice EHX have done a pedal that does it for you.

Yup - cut a bit of low mid and maybe a touch of bass.

The best tone I EVER heard was an SG into Boss EQ then into a JCM800.

If that's ever beaten I'll shit myself there on the spot.

Hmm EQ is on my shpping list sometime (when I have more money) but I dont think the 7-band ones would suite me, lol! Love the look of the 10 band ones I saw (mxr I think)

Clare, did you get that tone?

The 7-band ones are sometimes more useful for guitar; because the bands are wider you can make more profound changes to the sound.

From my (admittedly fairly limited) experience at least.

Thats prolly true in most cases. Mind you a nice 3 band parametric would also tempt me later.

I have an MXR 10-band eq and the "sparkly clean" setting in the instruction manual makes my Jackson KVX10 (Duncan Designed humbuckers) sound very single-coil like to me. Bear in mind the sliders are calibrated +/- 12 dB

31.25 and 62.5 Hz cut completely
3dB boost @ 125Hz
250 Hz flat or very slight boost
6dB cut @ 500Hz
1K and 2K flat
10 dB boost @ 4K
6 dB boost @ 8K
16K flat

Hope that helps
