Default This years online retailers who wont be on my xmas list next year.

Play,com

Been using them since day one. I checked my order history and have spent over 8k with them to date.

During 2007, they have removed email contact details and made it very difficult to contact them. Out of 40 items I ordered from Play this xmas, 20 were never delivered on time and five were not in stock ( even though they took my money and failed to let me know ).

Two items had to be returned because they were mis-sold ( there details did not match the true specs ) and it took me five weeks on the phone to achieve bugger all.

They sent RMA numbers and I returned items by Recorded Delivery which track and trace showed were delivered. Play told me they had not recieved them.....

In the end I got fed up and went through my credit card provider. They did a charge back on play and I got all my money back and a £100 goodwill payment from the credit card company as well !!!!!!!!!! ( I fainted as well ! ).

A friend of mine was sent Four DVDs instead of one, but only charged for one. He sent three back and Play refused to pay his postage charge of £3.80.

Who is off your xmas list for 2008 ?

Odd, I have always found play to be very reliable. But I do know what you mean with the disappearing emails though, it's very frustrating when it is so hard to contact them. I had to make a return but was unsure of a few details so I rang them in the end. They were helpful when I got through though.

My list would be -

Cube 247 - Not Christmas but in the autumn my parents ordered an £800 system that made an annoying rattling noise. They told my parents that was normal, my parents suggested it wasn't so asked me to have a listen. It wasn't normal so I rang them up and told them this and they still refused a refund! Like you we had to claim the money back through the credit card company.

Totally Fitness - Ordered a heart rate monitor and was told it would arrive in time for Christmas, it came yesterday. Appalling!

Amazon were naughty this year : out of 8 items that were 'in stock' and ordered in plenty of time for Christmas 4 have yet to arrive

Amazon were hopless at Christmas - agreed. Worse by far was the Original Gift Co - one item still outstanding! I wonder if Royal Mail sufffered from seasonal staff with sticky fingers... Plus there were stories of postmen not carrying parcels, just the 'sorry you were out' cards...
