This has been bugging me ever since setting up my home studio and I just cannot figure out how to get rid of it!
Firstly, say I record something in an audio track with the mic or guitar, whatever. Then I want to stop, and start recording again but with NO gap or pause between the 2 tracks. How can I put that little yellow marker thing RIGHT where I want it?? I know I can change the size of the lines so it can be placed more specifically, but it still won't go exactly where I want it to, so there's no noticeable pause between the 2 tracks. Grr. Secondly, I have been working on some drum beats and rhythms using Ableton's sounds and my PC keyboard, and I'll put down the beats and then stop, and when I play it back, it automatically loops it (which is fine and what I want), BUT again, in between every loop, there is a 1 second or so pause, which obviously ruins the rhythm of the beat, you know? I have tried to edit this out, but I think that since my actual track I recorded doesn't have a pause/gap in it, I can't actually edit it out. For some reason, it's putting this pause in between each loop of the track. You can see the little markers on the track recording as well, where each pause is. How do I get rid of this!?!? Thank you ![]() |

Hi graceslick
I am not sure about your first problem or what its happening, if I had that problem I would be tempted to record what your recording with an audio editor like soundforge/audacity etc. The when you are happy with it it, you cancut/edit etc and then load it into ableton for what you need to do. again I dont know why your second problem is happening, but simular answer, export the loops from ableton, load into audio editor as above, and cut it to precicesly what you want then load it back into ableton. I am sure there is people on here who will know of a much easier way, like you can edit etc in ableton, but my mind just works in that way and I am pretty sure you will solve those problems. I am not sure what timescales etc you are working on, but its worth remebering to cut the drum loop on the down beat of the fith, then it should loop perfectly in time, same for the first beat. I can see that you tried to edit it out but dint work and the gap is marked with a warp marker? you could also try deleting all the markers on the beat, by using right click on the mouse, and warp each beat yourself, on the down beats. It does for some reason sound like ableton is picking up the gap as a beat and auto warping it, see how you get on? thanks |

look at your loop markers these are represented by the black line at the top of the waveform
drag the ends of each so that it loops exactly where you want it as it sounds like the loops you are creating are playing the loop then nothing for a while before getting to the marker and re looping therefore causing your gaps. you may need to re adjust your warp makers depending on how complex the loop is. while the above suggestion of exporting and importing might work its too fiddly for me let me know how you get on jay |
