Default xmas help

i went n got myself an early xmas present a Epiphone B.B King Lucille. its rele nice 2play n feels a good guitar with loads of different blues tones blues thanks 2 the vari-tone switch. but i want 2 upgrade the pickups to 490R n 490T which are the ones used in the gibson version.
has anyone else done this?? and is it easy 2 change of pickups?
I've never fiddled with them so i have no idea.

Changing pickups/wiring on the majority of semi solids is a bit of a fiddle to say the least. You have to pull the wiring harness back through one of the f holes and work on it outside the guitar. I'm sure there must be a guide to doing it online somewhere.

Aren't the Lucilles somewhat short on the f-hole front?

Good point - well presented.

Serves me right for not reading the original post properly.

I amend my reply to - "It should be a piece of p*ss"

Dave (slightly ashamed)

Getting the height right is easy. Just wind them up and down until you find the spot where they sound best to you.

Gah - I'm a bit slow today. One other thing to bear in mind with pickup height is that if you have them too high you'll likely get funny noises like wolf notes and dodgy intonation. If such things happen just wind them down a touch.

You'll be fine. Just make a note of what goes where with the current ones, take it slowly and KEEP CALM. The first moment something goes wrong put everything down slowly and go and do something else for a bit.
